I’m Getting Spring Fever.

We’re organizing over here.
And cleaning.
Today, Skyler has completely detailed my car (which terribly needed it after our roadtrip!), mowed, weeded, and is now working on detailing his truck.
Last week we cleaned out the garage (we seem to have to clean it out every couple months or so with all the moving stuff in and out for our paintball tournaments.  It never seems to stay organized for long!).  This week, I worked an entire day in our office.  Filing, filing, filing, shredding, recycling.  Filing. πŸ™‚  It’s lookin’ pretty good in there, with an exception of my craft closet which is on my to-do list.
Yesterday, I cleaned out a space that has been incredibly neglected and {truthfully} avoided.
Since we moved in.
Last April.
It’s the lazy-susan in the kitchen.  *shudder*
I hated getting in there.
I’ve never had a lazy-susan before, and just couldn’t wrap my mind around organizing in a circular space.
We had an awesome pantry at our last place, where I kept all of my baking supplies.

This was right outside my kitchen.  I loved having my jars all lined up on the shelf, easy to grab.
At this house, we don’t really have a pantry.
But I have a lazy-susan!! πŸ˜‰
So, on moving day, I just shoved all my baking supplies in the lazy-susan and vowed to organize it another, less hectic day.
And gosh-darnit.  One year later, here I am, organizing my baking stuff, as promised!
Do I make good on my word, or what? πŸ˜‰
Her’s the horrendous “before’s”… Are you ready for this?

Ya.  Pretty bad.
I took everything out.  Wiped down the shelves.  Purged.  Put things in jars and baskets.  Labeled some things.  More labels to come (now that I just got a Silhouette Cameo! Yea!).  And put everything back in an order that made sense to me.
I know it doesn’t look that different… but trust me.  It is. πŸ™‚  In real life, it’s world’s different!

I put all the large glass jars with things like flour, sugar, brown sugar, powdered sugar, corn meal etc. on the bottom.  I love my big old jars.  Almost all of them come from my grandma’s pantry.  I love having things organized in glass jars verses bags because it is so nice to see what all you have!
These little squatty ones are my favorite ones from my grandma.  I love the yellow lids!
I learned this method of labeling from my mom.  So smart and easy!
I used another jar to store all my sprinkles, m&m’s, and other misc “toppings”.  One jar for chocolate chips.

This basket was perfect for my cocoa powder, melting chocolates, vanilla extracts and other extracts.

And a couple other jars to house my misc. bagged spices that I don’t use often enough to keep in my spice drawer. πŸ™‚
I feel a lot better about this cupboard now.  I like opening.  It JUST may cause me to bake a little more often.  My waistline better watch out.  There’s a new lazy-susan in town.
