I think almost every year that I was a kid, it rained on Easter.
I remember ALWAYS being bummed on Easter that we couldn’t do an egg hunt because of the downpour. Really, there’s only about two years that I remember it being decent weather.
This year…Sun. And lots of it.
We actually celebrated Easter on Saturday with my family.
We had a nice, but simple lunch and then spent the rest of the afternoon out in the sun!
Skyler and I hid eggs for Ezekiel and my niece Kaily and nephew Kaiden, stuffed with $10 worth in change. 🙂 (You know Skyler – NO sweets for the kiddos! :))
I think the best part of an egg hunt is the hiding part. LOVE it.
And then….we released the dragons! And off they scampered.
We had thrown some just in the grass for Zeek and told the big kids they weren’t allowed to get those eggs. They were really great big cousins and even helped him find some other eggs. 🙂 Those kids have big, loving hearts!
He was so good at picking up eggs and putting them in his basket!
Zeek, pointing out eggs to daddy!
Pretty Grandma watching the hunt!
The three cousins.
Swinging with Grandma.
In the evening we all went to Skyler and my church (East Valley Vineyard Church in Silverton), which meets on Saturday evenings.
It was fun to have the whole family visit our church!
We just started going about 5 months ago and it immediately felt like home.
Where we’re supposed to be. Awesome people who welcomed us right in.
On actual Easter, Skyler woke up early to spend the day playing paintball in Washington.
Zeek and I had plans of visiting another church for service, but we slept in until 10:30.
Which was really quite nice, since I haven’t slept well this week at all.
We just had a lazy day around the house, cleaning, playing and watching An American Tale (which Ezekiel found in his Easter basket!).
In the afternoon, Zeek and I headed over to take a plate of cookies to Skyler’s parents’ house.
Since it was such a nice day again, Grandma and I took Zeek to the neighborhood park.
Skyler got home around 5 and we decided to go out to eat. He jumped in the shower and I sat down to look up a place to eat that was open on Easter. I immediately thought of the China Buffet (one of my favorites. Really, I love just about any buffet. I figure you can’t go wrong with that many choices.). But, I knew Skyler wouldn’t go for it. We used to both really like it, and went about every other month for probably a year, at the end of which Skyler decided he really didn’t like the place. So, I knew that was out. As soon as Skyler got out of the shower, he came out to tell me, “God wants me to take you to China Buffet.” *WHOO!*
So, off to China Buffet we went! We enjoyed a lovely meal and talked about our newest business venture – a new online store! Details to come soon. 🙂
Zeek loved China Buffet just as much as I do. 😉
Funny kid trusts anything we try to put in his mouth. He also let me put a whole mini octopus in his mouth (but he did spit it out.). 🙂
Hope you all had a happy Easter!
I’m thankful for a God who loves us so much that He would give the world His Son to die.
No one can ever top that gift. Just amazing to think of the love He really must have for us.
I couldn’t imagine giving up my son for anyone.
