I’m back on the mends!! (mostly).
I’ve had a little more energy this week, which means I got one more project done in Ezekiel’s room that has been just sitting around waiting for me to put together.
Zeek has really been into coloring lately. He loves to sit on the coffee table and color in his book. I decided the little man needed an activity table in his room to accommodate all of his crayons, coloring books and colored pencils.
I have been picking up the pieces for the activity table over the last couple of months and finally had made one final run to Ikea a couple of weeks ago for the last bit of things I needed.
From Ikea, I picked up:
- A LACK kids table – $7.99
- 2 metal towel/kitchen bars (or whatever they’re called!) – $1.99 each
- A 10-pack of ‘S-hooks’ – $.99
- 2 metal hanging baskets that go with the kitchen bars – $1.99 each
- Metal hanging lamp from the As-Is section – $9.99
- 2-Pack power supply strip – $5.99
- Paper Towel rack on clearance – $2.99
- Metal trash can – $4ish (? I don’t remember…)
Things I got from other places:
- Little wooden kids chair from Goodwill – $4.99
- Spray paint – $3.99
- Metal buckets from Michael’s – $1.25 each
- Roll of paper for coloring, Target clearance – $3.00
- Ribbon – $2.29
And this is what happens when you mix everything all together:
He loves to sit here at his little chair and play with his other toys too!
I spray painted Ezekiel’s little chair a few weeks before I found these tin buckets at Michael’s and thought they’d be a good match. Turns out they are the exact same color. Yay. 🙂
Oh, and I used the power drill by myself. Yup. Did this whole thing while Skyler was away.
That’s my favorite time to do projects! 😉
this lamp! I actually found it at the same Ikea trip that I found the red lanterns
for the cactus, and I fell in love! It was in the As-is section, with nothing noticeably wrong, for only $9.99. Since Ezekiel’s room is “colorful, rustic, industrial” (got that?!), this lamp fit perfect. I knew he could use a little extra light in his room.
This towel holder was definitely not something I was thinking of before I got to Ikea. I did already have the roll of paper, but I was thinking of a paper towel holder more like this one from Umbra
But they didn’t have anything like that at Ikea… And then I saw the saw toothed one, and thought, “hey, that might work well for tearing the paper off of the roll!”
And whaddaya know?!
It definitely does work well. 🙂
I wanted a little trash can in Zeek’s room for his little paper scraps and whatnot and found this little guy at Ikea for I think around $4…I don’t remember exactly on this one.
And then… you look under the little LACK table and you see this:
It was inspired by this post that I found on Pinterest a long while ago:

I knew it’d be a good way to keep the cords and plug-ins off the ground, out of sight from little eyes with little fingers. 😉 The basket is from Ikea and is the same one as the one holding Zeek’s coloring books, but I took the handle off and just hung it on the little hooks (which I bought at Ace Hardware).
I was pretty proud of this little find! I didn’t like any of the chairs that Ikea had (most of them were plastic and cheap) but in the $15-20 range…
So I hopped over to Goodwill and found this sturdy little guy for $4.99.
This is what he looked like before a paint job:
Not completely terrible, but definitely not cute!
And one final detail:
These are the colored pencils I found at a fair trade shop in Corvallis and put in Zeek’s Easter basket!
I love them!
I *almost* don’t want him to use them… But I know he loves them too, plus daddy will have fun when it comes time to whittle them down. 😉
Now only a few more things to do before I’m done. You know, for a few more months until the next baby comes along. heehee! (Don’t worry, I’ve already got plans for that!)
I’m still working on refinishing a cabinet for his room and am waiting for dry weather to finish it in! That’s the big project… The rest of the couple little things will be quick to follow.
Feel’s good to blog again, more than about how sick I am! I’m sure you’re all glad too. 😉
