“She’s About to Pop” Triple Baby Shower

Remember how I was waking up around 4:30 pretty much every morning?
Well, thanks to a lovely thing called TIME CHANGE, it’s now been 3:30.

I laid in bed, awake for an hour this morning, determined not to let it get the best of me.
And where did that get me?
Hungry and bored by 4:30 and therefore now sitting in the living room all by my lonesome on my laptop, trying to kill a bit of time before I feel tired again.  *sigh*

Something about pregnancy definitely makes me an insomniac.  Truthfully, it hasn’t been all that bad.  I even sort of enjoy this little bit of time where I know both boys are snuggled in bed, sleeping sweetly, where it’s so quiet that I can hear 5 different clocks ticking, where I get a little bit of “just mama” time.  Where I can write a blog.  Where I can work on Christmas presents.  Where I can watch some early morning episodes of Friends to make me feel a little less lonely in the house.  It’s really kind of a sweet time and I know I should just savor this last bit of “me” time, before I have another little precious soul in the house who will need me to be up at 3:30 am for their sake, not for my own.

Remember that I mentioned a few friends from church were throwing a triple baby shower for me and two other girlfriends?  That shower happened last Sunday.  It was a lovely party of some of the dearest people in my life.  My church family (we’re a small church – probably 60-70 people if everyone showed up.) is made up of some of the best friends I’ve ever had in it.  The ladies all range in early twenties to early forties, but you’d never know there was a 20 year age gap amongst us.  We all have young kids and are in similar places in life and these women are seriously the best.  I am so thankful for them and their friendship!  There was about 12 of us at the shower, which was just perfect for having a lovely relaxing time with friends.

My friends Christine, Enez and Gina threw the shower for myself, Janie (due a couple weeks before me) and Jackie (due right around the same time as me).  I never thought to pull out my camera and take any pictures, but Gina posted several photos of the shower on FB the other day and I asked if I could share the photo’s she took.

They came up with a theme of “She’s About to Pop!” and used it creatively throughout the party!  Here are Gina’s photo’s of the shower:

The Details:
Shower Invite

Adorable wreath on the front door.  (3 to represent the Triple Shower!)

I so badly wanted to win this! haha!

 The food table, pre food.
They had an incredible spinach dip with bread, popcorn chicken, homemade caramel popcorn (made by Gina’s husband!), homemade apple cake with warm butter sauce (just like at Oktoberfest!  DIVINE!), coffee… and some other things which I can’t remember!

The party favors: blow pops & tootsie pops, tea light candles and Starbuck’s cake pop’s!

 Janie, Jackie and I

Adorable handmade gifts from our friend Chelsea

Made by Chelsea!  This is the sweetest gift ever!  I loooved it!
I had seen Chelsea’s daughter in one (who is only a few months old now) and commented on her FB photo how much I loved it… and so she whipped me up one!
So, take notes, ladies!
If you ever REALLY want something for a shower, just comment on people’s photo’s a few weeks before the shower of how much you love an item! πŸ˜‰
P.S. There’s even a little pink bow (you can see at my legs) that I can attach to the hat if #2 is a girl!

I LOVE these ladies!

Yes, I look ginormous.  Yes, I am fully aware of it.

Thank you Gina, Christine and Enez for planning this sweet shower for us and for all your planning and prep work going into it!  You guys are amazing friends. πŸ™‚
On another note, on Friday, Gina’s son Hunter turned two and we were invited to help celebrate his birthday at the Riverfront Carousel!  Zeek was in horsey heaven!  I think he rode the carousel at least 6 times.
Here are a few photo’s from the party that Gina snapped and I just had to share.  πŸ™‚
The four adorable tot’s that are little BFF’s in our church!
Zeek, Cosette (Christine’s daughter), Hunter (Gina’s son, and birthday boy) and Ella (Janie’s daughter).

The precious birthday boy!

Christine, Cosette and Ella in the wagon behind us! πŸ™‚

Gina did a Construction Zone party theme and did a fantastic job!
She is seriously so creative with all the parties she throws.
I love to see all the little things she comes up with. πŸ™‚

The goodies that came in the party favor bag for the kiddo’s.

Anyway, that’s that.  Our life has been blessed with parties for the last week. πŸ™‚
And now it is a quarter after 5 and I’d better at least try to fall asleep again before Zeek wakes up in a couple hours…

Good night!
(Or something like that…)

Love,
K
