When Gevalia recently asked me to host a party featuring their coffee, I knew just the occasion. A quite special occasion. With my big sister’s wedding approaching, I had visions of the hours of time spent in the bridal party room, getting dressed, hair and make-up done, hanging around before the actual event started and… not having coffee or munchies to get us through it. *yikes* Scary thought. I told her I’d get it covered and not to worry about food and drinks for the bridal party.
I went to Safeway (my go-to store. Seriously, I love Safeway! Have you ever tried their Just 4 U program?) to pick up some Gevalia coffee and snacking essentials to set up for us all in the Bridal Party Suite. Gevalia coffee is not new to me. Growing up, my mom always had a once a month package arrive at our house with a new sampling of Gevalia coffee flavors. We always opened it excitedly when it showed up (even though I didn’t drink coffee as a child), because my mom has always been an avid coffee drinker and we just shared in her excitement. Thankfully, Safeway carries most of the Gevalia coffee flavors so I can get them there and not have to wait for a shipment. 😉
For the bridal party, I selected a yummy Vanilla flavored dark roast. I have been trying to cut out even more processed foods and have even recently stepped away from my previous addiction to French Vanilla coffee creamer and have been doing just half and half and a bit of honey to sweeten, so I was excited about the vanilla flavored coffee to take place of the flavored creamer.
I am in love with Safeway’s “O Organic” product line. It’s so good and much more reasonably priced organic products than other stores in the area. I always buy their O Organics half and half and honey for my coffee. (I DID buy some french vanilla creamer too, just in case any of the other bridesmaids wanted to pair it with their Gevalia vanilla coffee… ;))
We also got some awesome coffee cake that tastes homemade (which one of my friend’s got me hooked on at our Bible study last week!), cookies and mini muffins all from Safeway’s bakery. We had to keep the snacks somewhat healthy too (to keep the Bride’s nerves at bay and her stomach from getting upset with just sweets), so I also brought green and red grapes, plain crackers and swiss and sharp cheddar cheese. The Rolo’s and M&M’s were just a given because… well, you can’t have coffee without SOME form of chocolate! 😉
